Kanye West Is Pressuring Will Smith to Return to Rap
Although he just previewed some of the most uncompromisingly dark and aggressive rap music of the year, it seems Kanye West has his heart set on getting the goofball rap stylings of Will Smith back in the game. While doing press for his upcoming sci-fi epic After Earth (which BE WARNED is directed by M. Night Shyamalan), the Academy Award nominee let the bomb drop about his potential return to rap.
“I’ve been messing around with Kanye. We went in the studio a couple of times,” the former Fresh Prince said. “I might get the bug.”
But don’t celebrate the return of Big Willie Style just yet. “I’m not going to do it unless I’m truly inspired,” Smith said. “But ‘Ye’s been pushing me a little bit.”
You can watch Smith tease his studio time with Kanye above. Honestly, the father of two doesn’t sound too stoked about the idea of returning to his rap roots, so I’d be surprised if anything came of this. But will there be a Big Willie cameo on Yeezy’s upcoming sixth? That seems like it could have been West’s ulterior motive all along.
