Tyler The Creator Wants To Retire From Rap
Tyler, the Creator has only released two solo albums, yet he’s already eyeing a rap retirement. Odd Future’s outspoken frontman wants to drop the mic three years from now, he revealed in an interview with Italian music site Ptwschool.com. Since he’s not really interested in rapping, Tyler plans on investing — in an industry he’s yet to announce — some of his reported $4 million net worth to ensure a financially stable future. “I love it [rap], but that’s not what I really draw a lot of inspiration from at all,” the 22-year-old said. “I’m just trying to invest in s—, so I don’t have to make music three years from now and I could be rich off that.”

So far, his two solo releases, Gobblin and Wolf, have collectively sold more than 300,000 copies.
Also during the talk, Tyler critiqued Kanye West’s Yeezus album (“It’s one of those albums that it has to grow on you.”) and explained why he kept the ‘Ye off his “IFHY” single. “We both have a love for art and we hate a lot of the same stuff,” he said, calling West one of the “few” people he considers a friend.
Still, the Chicago MC was denied a feature on “IFHY” because Tyler felt the track wasn’t good enough. “The way I do features, I specially pick people for what they’re featured on,” he explained. “That song was nowhere [near] where I thought he would fit on there. I love Kanye, I’m a big fan, but that just wasn’t right for him.”
A collaboration isn’t ruled out, Tyler said. He and Ye will “most likely” collaborate in the future just maybe not anytime soon. “That’s my boy, I f—s wit’ him.”
