The actor James Gandolfini has died, aged 51. Gandolfini was best known for his role as Tony Soprano in the HBO series, “The Sopranos”, although he also had a successful theatre, film and documentary career. The cause of the actor’s untimely passing is said to have been a heart attack.

Gandolfini was attending the 59th Taormina Film Festival in Sicily when he died. He was scheduled to take part in a festival event with Italian director Gabriele Muccino this weekend.

Already, tributes from the world of Hip-Hop are being made.

Hot 97 radio host, Peter Rosenberg took to Twitter to share his feelings.

“Wow RIP James Gandolfini … What an actor…damn so young,” he wrote.

DJ Statik Selektah revealed that Gandolfini was one of his favourite actors.

“Wow Rest In Peace James Gandolfini … one of my favorite actors of all time…. I’m secretely wannabe-Tony Soprano of the rap game,” he wrote.


Fat Joe posted a picture of himself with Gandolfini on his Facebook page and added a comment.

“R.I.P to James Gandolfini Sad Day 2day He Will Be Missed My Prayers Go Out To His Family God Bless Them,” it read.
