With his controversial “Control” verse, Kendrick Lamar challenged his rap peers to get better. So it’s ironic that after the fallout from his fiery bars on the Big Sean track, K-Dot now feels like he may have to tone down his complex lyrics. “It made me go back here and made me feel that I probably need to dumb down my lyrics nowadays, for people to take it way out of context the way they did,” the Top Dawg MC said during an interview with Hot 97 radio personality Peter Rosenberg, which aired on Thursday morning (August 29).

Lil Snupe, a teenage artist signed to Meek Mill’s Dream Chasers Records label, has died, according to comments made by his affiliates. Meek Mill signed Snupe to Dream Chasers Records just earlier this week. “He was spittin so much pain,” Meek told MTV News when asked what attracted him to Snupe’s style. “He’s from the South with flow like an East Coast guy,” the MMG rapper explained of the Jonesboro, Louisiana teen. “Like with that Bounce flow, all over the place. He can really spit, and he was talking that talk that I can really relate to. I seen potential in him.”

Philadelphia rapper Meek Mill has been barred from touring for a month after a judge found he violated probation restrictions associated with a 2008 drug and gun conviction. Common Pleas Judge Genece Brinkley said Monday the rapper, whose real name is Robert Williams, violated an order restricting his performance scheduling and failing to properly keep in touch with his probation officer.

The rapper held a top-secret listening party for his debut solo album, “Dreams and Nightmares,” in a legendary venue Wednesday night, but by the time he arrived, the guests with the most wattage — Jay-Z and Will Smith — were history.

Chris Brown has spoken with New York Police Dept. detectives about the bar fight that left a gash in his chin … and law enforcement sources tell us his lawyer has given the NYPD “physical evidence” which allegedly shows Drake was involved in the melee. We’re told Chris’ lawyer, Mark Geragos, went to the NYPD late today to present evidence showing that Drake and Meek Mill were the aggressors, but earlier in the day Chris spoke with Detectives at an undisclosed location in NYC. Cops tell us Chris is not currently a suspect but rather “a witness and a victim.” We’re also told Drake is not currently a suspect.
