DMX just caught a $630,000 break — TMZ has learned, a booking agency has dismissed its enormous lawsuit against the rapper over a botched 2011 comeback tour. TMZ broke the story … an agency called Heavy Rotation sued DMX in March claiming it struck an exclusive year-long deal with DMX in 2011 to book a string of comeback concerts — but the rapper was a pain in the ass to deal with … and torpedoed the entire tour. HR said it lost nearly $750,000 on the deal gone bad.
DMX will need to spend at least another week incarcerated at Arizona State Prison. X was jailed on November 19th 2010, for violating his parole and was held on a number of charges, the principal being drug use. He was sentenced to serve one year with no chance of bail. In mid-May, it was announced that the artist could be getting off earlier than expected, if he met the terms for good behavior. That date was officially set for July 13th.
New reports suggest the MC hasn’t met those terms. Since January, DMX has managed to accumulate seven disciplinary violations at the prison, some of which include: unauthorized smoking, disrespect towards staff, possession of narcotics and disorderly conduct.
The man behind the chart toppers, Party Up and Who We Be, has had his share of run-ins with the law, starting in 1994 with an arrest for drug possession, and in 1998 a rape charge, which he was acquitted for due to DNA evidence. The charges have accumulated since that time, the latest being a 2009 conviction for animal cruelty and drug possession, and a 90 day jail sentence in 2010 for a reckless driving charge.
DMX has been working on his 7th album, Redemption Of The Beast, for over a year now. He’ll be collaborating with artists like Sean Kingston, The LOX, Tyrese, as well as known producers Scott Storch, Swizz Beatz, and Dame Grease.
A spokesman for the Arizona Department of Corrections has confirmed an anticipated release date of July 19th for DMX.
A lot of rumors having been floating around about DMX and his post-prison release plans, where the rapper would sign and even whom he might marry.
In an interview with VIBE, X clears the record about the personal matter of his love life. DMX tells the magazine that he in fact in not engaged to model Yadira Borrego.
“No! We absolutely were living together, and at one time we were engaged,” X told the publication. “But um, no. I’m recalling that she wants to work it out, but I really don’t see that happening. I’m not going say it won’t work, but this last time in jail, with me focusing on the mental, allowed me to see who’s there for me and who’s not. It’s easy to say, ‘I got your back. I’m there for you.’ But when it comes down to it, like I said, I’m not even talking about money and things like that. I’m good. I got fans sending me money. I’m good with that.”
X’s most recent prison stint has drastically altered his perspective on life and has him wanting to make changes.
“In a way, yeah. I realized that [change] is something that I want do this time,” X answered when asked if he’s learned his lesson following his latest stint in prison. “Like the last few times I couldn’t wait to get out and go have a drink. Like all my focus was on going to the club or things of that nature. Now, I’m in a frame of mind where I’m like ‘right into the studio and get my grind on.’”
DMX is currently scheduled to be released from jail on July 13.
DMX has turned himself in for a driving infraction dating 2002. The rapper has been recently released from Arizona prison where he spent 4 months for violating probation.
In an interview recorded two days ago (July 27) before DMX went to jail, he appears to be very calm and in good spirit (watch video below). The rapper seems to be sure of his choice, declaring that “I decided myself to do that. Me and my crew we came to the conclusion that you know, that would be best. I wanna get that over with, because that’s one of the first steps in regaining everything that I lost.”
DMX says he has decided to turn himself in because he has been listening to God, who helped the rapper become a stronger and better person. “He’s [God] always had his hand on me. Now that I’m actually listening and being obedient, life is so much better. “
The rapper’s lawyer says he is glad DMX has been collaborating with him to the fullest and that the step of turning himself in will help the rapper build a new image of himself and regain his fans’ trust and respect.
The rapper is currently serving 90 days in Los Angeles jail.
