Eve’s return to music has been years in the making. The veteran Philadelphia femcee spoke at-length with SOHH about her upcoming project, Lip Lock and how surprisingly easy it was for her to land guest stars on the album despite her having been away so long.

“Honestly, it was easy getting all of my collaborations for Lip Lock. I thank God because it wasn’t too hard, to be honest,” she said. “I’m happy that the people I got on the record were down to be on this record. Honestly, I didn’t run up on anything crazy. The feedback I have received with my comeback has been pretty good. I’ve been getting responses from people when I go out and I’ve been getting love from people but at the same time, I’m sure there are people who are waiting to see what this album does and waiting to see what happens with the records. Overall, it’s been pretty positive.”

“The freestyles I have been putting out are something that I feel like people didn’t get a chance to see. We didn’t really have that when I first came out, doing freestyles on other records. I love that concept,” Eve shared. “I look at it like, number one, it’s great to get on a record that you love. I think every artist has heard a song before and been like, ‘D*mn, I wish that was my beat!’ Being able to take that record that might not be yours and make it yours, I love that concept.”

“I felt like, ‘Why not?’ People haven’t heard me in a long time and this will be a good way to get back into people’s ears with sh*t that they’ve already heard but then do it my way. We’re going to bring that back. So I’m really looking forward to that.”
