Tyler the Creator Hates Rapping, Wants To Sing? Hmm
Here’s a surreal way to spend 25 minutes: Tyler, the Creator sat down for an interview with broadcast legend Larry King on his online interview show “Larry King Now”. Tyler discussed how he hates being viewed merely as a rapper, how he met the rest of Odd Future, fashion, the power of words, and much more. He said he’d like to move away from rapping and would like to sing more. Since his voice is deep, he’s been listening to Isaac Hayes and Barry White records. “I hate rapping,” he said.

He said he’d like to move away from rapping and would like to sing more. Since his voice is deep, he’s been listening to Isaac Hayes and Barry White records. “I hate rapping,” he said.
“It puts you in this box. … I’m talented enough to do other things. I don’t know, I’m pretty bored with it. It’s not interesting. In the future, I want to do films. I want people to mention my name next to Wes Anderson or Quentin Tarantino. I don’t want my name to be mentioned next to other rappers at all.”
They talked about how he’s influenced others, and then he gave Larry a list of his influences: Dave Chappelle, Eminem, Pharrell, Roy Ayers, James Pants, Wes Anderson, his mom, and his peers.
He also had a message for Jennifer Lawrence: “I love Jennifer Lawrence. If you watching this, leave the nigga you with!”
