Born and raised in Kansas on the sounds of A Tribe Called Quest and De La Soul, C-Genius aka Carl Edwards found out at an early age that he had a talent for Hip Hop. He spent hours with his older brother at first with just a cheap karaoke machine and a bunch of cassette tapes, eventually moving up to more sophisticated means of recording.

Coming from a very humble upbringing. He realized that his dreams of rocking a stage with Mos Def and Talib Kweli would have to be put on hold while he found a means of financing this ambition. In 2000 he joined the Air Force and immediately found people with a similar goal. One in particular would be a producer from the Dominican Republic named Heinzel Jno-Baptist. Together they developed their skills until (as always in the military) their inevitable departure.

C-Genius arrived in Germany in 2003 and began working with German Hip Hop artists Sprachtot and Dervizz. They recorded “Warun Ein Mixtape”. A hybrid of German and American style Hip Hop that took Germany by storm. With their help he went on to release his first solo project titled “Will Rhyme for Food”. His fan base and recognition as a true “Hip Hop head” grew up until his once again inevitable departure back to the states.

When he arrived he was invited to the ATL to record two songs with platinum recording artist Athena Cage (Nobody, Butterscotch). Now he is working on a join project with his cousin K-Money titled “genius and Money” due for release summer of 2009. His style has been compared to everyone from DJ Quik to Common due to his undying appreciation of the Hip Hop culture. He is definitely someone to keep your eye on in this industry.
