Eminem To Release EP With Rapper Royce Da 5’9″

eminem

Eminem and Royce da 5’9″ are back recording together more than a decade after the Detroit rappers first joined forces.

The pair, who met at a concert in their home city in 1997 and worked together under the name Bad Meets Evil, announced Monday that they’re coming out with an EP of new material in June.

One of the songs they recorded in the late 1990s, called “Bad Meets Evil,” appeared on Eminem’s major label debut, “The Slim Shady LP.”

According to a news release distributed Monday by Interscope Records, the rappers pursued solo careers after their initial work together and became embroiled in a feud.

In the years since, Eminem’s career has reached superstar levels with tens of millions of records sold and Grammy and Academy Award wins. Royce da 5’9″ also has seen success, but on a much smaller scale, with three of his albums charting in the R&B/hip-hop category.

The two mended fences, however, following the shooting death of their mutual friend and fellow rapper Proof in 2006.

Royce and I started hanging out again and inevitably that led us back into the studio,” Eminem said in a statement. “At first we were just seeing where it went without any real goal in mind, but the songs started to come together crazy, so here we are.”

Royce da 5’9″ said he was “excited to see this project come to fruition considering the long lapse in time between when we worked before and now.”

The new material will be released June 14 on Shady/Interscope Records. Mr. Porter, who is a member of Eminem’s rap group D12, was a producer on the EP.

Interscope said its title will be unveiled “soon.”

And, for the record, Royce da 5’9″ is the Bad half of the duo, and Eminem is the Evil.

Game’s Alleged Gang Ties Raises Red Flag For Customs

2006 American Music Awards - Arrivals

Some days ago, West Coast rapper Game (born Charles Louboutin) was detained in Canada for several hours until he was deported back to the U.S.

Apparently Game’s love for the street gang Bloods raised a red flag for Canadian Customs. The Hate It Or Love It rapper definitely reps red to the fullest. In fact, his new moniker is inspired by the Red Bottom Man himself, Christian Louboutin.

According to TMZ, a rep from the promotion company behind the tour, Substance Entertainment Group, stated that the tour promoter got a call from Canadian Customs while the Red Nation rapper was on the plane.

The rep went on to explain that customs informed the promoter that Game would be denied entry upon arrival ”due to new information received that Game is affiliated with organized crime and is an active member of the Bloods street gang.”

The Canadian promoter claims that they were hit unexpectedly with this news because concert organizers had secured all permits and received approval a week prior to his arrival.

Apparently, Game is not the only rapper try to cut through red tape to resolve legal issues with customs. In December 2010, Cam’ron and protege Vado was denied entry into Montreal, Canada because of prior felony convictions.

Lil Wayne’s ‘Tha Carter IV’ Pushed Back

About a week ago, news leaked that Lil Wayne’s highly anticipated 4th studio album Tha Carter IVmight be pushed back till June.

At the time that was a just a rumor, but Young Money President Mack Maine confirmed the rumor is true. According to Maine, the album will be released on June 21st.

Neither Lil Wayne nor anyone from the Young Money camp has given a reason to the delay. In some cases, this is due to the album not being complete, but MTV had reported a month ago that Tha Carter IV was finished and heading into the mastering stages.

Maine also confirmed that the album cover for Tha Cater IVthat leaked earlier in the week would in fact be the cover that will be used for the album.

Also about a week ago, the rumored tracklist leaked for Tha Carter IV. According to the rumored listing, many YMCMB family members such as BirdmanDrake and Nicki Minaj will be on the album. Many other big names such as Jay-ZRick RossEminemKanye West, and Gucci Mane were also on the list.

No one has yet to comment on whether this is a confirmed or a tentative tracklist for Weezy’s 4th LP. The world will have to wait until June 21st when Tha Cater IV hits stores.

Attorney Generals In 17 States Call For Ban On Snoop’s ‘Blast’ Drink

Snoop Dogg.

The Attorney Generals of 17 states in the U.S. are calling on Pabst Brewing Company to decrease the alcohol content of Blast by Colt 45, a new controversial drink endorsed by rapper Snoop Dogg.

Illinois’ Attorney General Lisa Madigan said the drink promotes abuse and “binge drinking” amongst young people, due to the packaging, flavors and the inclusion of Snoop as a spokesman for the drink.

The AG’s believe Pabst Brewing Company is purposely marketing the drink to underaged children, although reps for Pabst maintain that Blast by Colt 45 strictly for those over the legal drinking age of 21.

“Alcohol abuse among young people is a serious and alarming epidemic,” Illinois’ Attorney General Lisa Madigan said in a statement. “A product like this only serves to glamorize alcohol abuse and promote binge drinking, threatening the safety of those consuming it.”

According to Madigan, a single can of Blast is equivalent to almost five servings of alcohol.

LIL B’S “I’M GAY” RAP ALBUM; PUSHING FOR LESS SEPARATION – (POLL)

lil-b

Lil B’s “I’m Gay” rap album has placed him under fire and attracted death threats for the title. However, the Berkley-based rapper says he is trying to “push less separation” in the community.

Gangsta rappers and those in the hip hop world are known for their free-styling, rites of passage lyrical-killing talents, and disrespect of women, you name it.

For some, it goes with the territory, and is for entertainment only. But for others, a life of living large and degrading women and LGBT is a way of life.

With such a sensitive topic that incites violence and steamy arguments, why would Lil B title his album “I’m Gay?”

Is it his coming out ceremony, and he’s been hiding his lack of man-hood underneath the menagerie of tattoos and dark sun shades?

Not so, says the “Illusions of Grandeur” rapper; he wants to change the psyche of gender-bending and set the record straight.

“I got major love for the gay and lesbian community, and I just want to push less separation and that’s why I’m doing it,” he said according to MTV.

A spokesperson for GLAAD said that while Lil B’s intentions may be good, some may confuse his “I’m Gay” rap album title as a gimmick to sell records. They are cautiously optimistic about his intentions as an ally.

“B” insists that he is straight, is a lover of women, and has no interest in men. He is trying to help foster an environment where rappers and the hip hop community can co-exist with LGBT without having to resort to vile means to boast their manhood.

Who appointed Lil B the acting spokesperson for the hip hop community as a change agent for social relations?

Perhaps he should focus on what type of artist he wants to become instead of making degrading music one minute and holding a how to get along 101 class the other.

Will you buy Lil B’s “Im’ Gay” album? Do you think his messages are mixed and offensive?

GOING INTERNATIONAL WITH INTERNATIONAL RECORDINGS

INTERNATIONAL RECORDINGS LOGO

Well pretty much with International Recordings we’d like to bring members aboard to become part of a family, where everyone is involved, not so much with the executive decisions being made, but they have a say so with material and other things that most other labels don’t allow certain artists to do. But not only that, we’re also trying to welcome everyone that’s from different countries to come and become part of the label at no cost to them. Pretty much, International Recordings is going to provide them with everything they need, to get their music off the ground.
