Lil Wayne’s I Am Not A Human Being will now be a full-length album as opposed to an EP like it was originally scheduled. Several of the tracks that were slated to be featured on Tha Carter IV will now be featured on the project, which is scheduled to be released on his birthday, September 27.
“I know once he got out [of jail] those songs would be so old to him,” said his manager, Cortez Bryant to SPIN magazine.
As for Tha Carter IV, it will no longer be released on the same day as Weezy’s release from prison in November as previously planned. The New Orleans MC, has been writing down lyrics, a first for him “since 2002 or 2003,” and soon after leaving Rikers he will start working on that LP.
“He’s going to probably start from scratch,” said Bryant. “I know how he records — he’s in the studio every single day. That’s his life.”
I Am Not A Human Being will feature collaborations with his Young Money label mates such as Nicki Minaj, Drake, Jay Sean, Tyga, Lil Twist and Jae Millz. The unfinished video for the title track leaked onto the internet a few days ago showcasing some of Weezy’s tattoos that apparently glow in the dark.
“It was his concept to shoot the black light, because that way the tats that he has, they glow in the dark,” said the video’s director David Rousseau to MTV News. “He came up with that idea. So really, the rest of the video was a springboard on that.”
It’s long been speculated that when female rapper Lil Kim returned to the music world she wouldn’t take too well to realizing that her spot was taken by Nicki Minaj and perhaps in an attempt to ignite what could be a great battle, fans are suggesting that the first shots have already been fired.
Kim was performing her single, Crush On You, during a Buffalo, New York concert recently when she tossed her wig out into the crowd and said, “I’m going to another level. I love the wigs and everything but I’m so above this. I’m so above this… I’ll be back!”
Leading some to believe it was a strike at Nicki, who in a move that reflects Kim’s former days, has taken to wearing various color wigs.
Whether that constitutes as a diss differs with each listener and really people may be grasping at invisible straws, but all the chitter chatter surrounding the issue highlights just how excited the Hip-Hop community is to hear about the return of the Queen Bee.
Kim’s last release, 2005’s The Naked Truth, was released on the same day that she reported to prison on perjury charges. She was released on July 3rd, 2006, and since then she has popped up here and there on various projects including a stint on the reality show Dancing With The Stars and a feature on Ludacris’ LP, Battle Of The Sexes.
Hip Hop’s top mogul, Sean “Diddy” Combs, recently denied the rumors that he was managing Rick Ross or even Nicki Minaj.
“For the record, as I said before, don’t believe the rumors,” Diddy said on a UStream broadcast.
“I have not made no announcement yet, don’t believe no rumors about anything y’all hear. me and Nick, we just cool. I like her style. Rick Ross, he’s my brother. There’s no management announcements or none of that. So everybody, worry about what you’re worrying about. It’s all right for people to know each other and have an admiration towards each other and maybe pick each other’s brains for advice. I will be making an announcement in a couple of weeks on some things. But right now, everybody let’s chill out and be cool and stay focused on being positive…”
Although he’s still locked away behind bars, Radric “Gucci Mane” Davis is still managing to make headlines.
Promoters have filed a lawsuit in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania against Gucci Mane, his booking agent Johnnie Cabbell and his manager Debrah Antney, the former manager of Nicki Minaj and mother of Waka Flocka Flame.
The lawsuit claims that Cabbell and Antney misappropriated money from concert promoters William Marshall of Marshall Productions and Derrick Brown of Rockstar Entertainment, by accepting deposits for two shows knowing that the rapper’s travel restrictions would not allow him to perform.
According to the lawsuit, Guccu’s representatives took two $13,750 advances for the rapper to perform the shows in Pittsburgh.
Marshall and Brown’s lawsuit states these claims saying,
“The defendants engaged in a widespread scheme scheduling con certs they knew would not take place.”
They are seeking more than $25,000 in damages.
Gucci Mane’s travel was restricted after he was released from jail on parole for a 2005 felony assault case.
This is not the first time Cabbell of Hitt Afta Hitt Entertainment and Antney of So Icey/Mizay Entertainment have had legal issues.
As previously reported they were sued for $175,000 in 2009 by a Florida concert promoter that claims they booked 20 shows for the rapper between July and November that were canceled because Gucci could not appear.
Legendary rap icon Eric B recently announced that his recent introduction to newcomer Nicki Minaj did not go as planned. In a rant on Twitter, Eric B wrote “Go fuck yourself” addressing the rap Barbie.
Reports are detailing that Eric B attempted to get a picture with Nicki for his daughter at a concert meet and greet. However, when the Hip Hop pioneer met Young Money’s first lady, she disrespected him by treating him like a groupie, as though he had snuck past security to meet her.
Nicki Minaj, who has received positive feedback from her series of mixtape releases since 2009, has not released a statement in regards to Eric B addressing her behavior.
Young Money princess Nicki Minaj has recently been garnering a lot of press lately.
As previously reported, Nicki recently found herself making headlines after firing her longtime manager and Waka Flocka Flame’s mother, Debra Antney. After the departure, executives and fans alike were expecting a big announcement and it seems that is what we have got.
According to the rumor mill, Nicki has reportedly hired Bad Boy mogul Sean Diddy Combs as her new manager. Although the announcement has yet to be made via either of the celebrities Twitter pages, many are speculating that the news is actually true.
A source close to the entrepreneur/rapper has confirmed that Diddy is not only co-managing Lil Wayne protégé Nicki Minaj but also Rick Ross.
This wouldn’t be a far stretch for Diddy who has helped launch the careers of everyone from Mary J Blige, Jodeci, Lil Kim, Ma$e and his most recent venture with Dirty Money.
There is no word yet from Minaj’s camp regarding the rumors. Minaj’s highly-anticipated debut album is said to be coming in the fall of 2010 via
Young Money/Cash Money/Universal Motown.
We hope this collaboration is true, regardless of what anyone has to say about Diddy, he definitely is a hit maker. We will keep you posted as this story develops.
