After the flop of R&B singer Kelly Rowland’s second album, she has changed up her look and sound for the lead single Commander which will appear on her upcoming third album. The video, which was directed by Masashi Muto, features Rowland in a custom-made wardrobe and five inch heels showing off her new moves taught to her by choreographer Fatima Robinson.
“The whole concept is very futuristic, very cool. It’s about me being the commander above anything, but it adds a different element of a club atmosphere — a very big atmosphere with very cool people. I’m battling myself with hair, with makeup, with the routines. I had to pull out my dancing shoes for this video.”
Although the album has yet to receive a title, Kelly Rowland confirmed that she has a track with rapper Nelly and hopes to work with T.I. and Diddy. The album is expected to be due out in mid-September.
Commander was produced by French house producer David Guetta who says fans will be enthralled by her new look and sound.
“Kelly’s look in this video is just utterly sexy. It’s like a jungle feel. I feel like we’re in Avatar somewhere, running through the woods, minus the blue paint.”
In a tragic occurrence, the bodyguard of rapper Nelly was murdered recently.
Michael Johson, 36, described as being the St. Louis native’s “left-hand man”, was shot multiple times outside of a home.
Occurring on Wednesday night, St. Louis county police responded and were brought to the home located on Nola, near North Hanley, around midnight.
Now under investigation, there have been no arrests in connection to the murder, but authorities are on the hunt for the suspect and obtain some type of motivation for such a fatal attack. Currently, they are retracing Johnson’s movements of the last 24 hours in order to find where he was and what could have led to the shooting.
As it relates to the ongoing search, the rapper has refused to comment on the incident involving one of his closest bodyguards.
Update: Nelly has since responded via Twitter about the shooting of his cousin:
“Contrary to some reports micheal johnson wasnt my bodyguard! he was my cuzzen and my friend!! I will always luv n miss u MJ!!!!!”

Nelly’s home was burglarized earlier this month and now the St. Lunatic is on a mission for justice. As previously reported an unidentified man broke into his St. Louis home and left with a duffel bag of electronics and other items. Nelly was not home at the time of the break in.
When police arrived on the scene, the suspect had already fled the scene but was reportedly seen driving off in a black Yukon.
Now Nelly’s teaming up with the police force to help bring the criminal into custody. Anyone with information can call CrimeStoppers at 866-371-8477.
There is a $10,000 reward being offered for information.
Nelly’s home has apparently been burglarized as his Missouri mansion is now under police surveillance. Police were called to the residence this morning and a manhunt is currently under way and 12 officers, a helicopter and a K-9 squad were brought out after a female at the home said she saw a man “fleeing “from the residence.
It’s not clear whether the St. Lunatic was at home at the time or if anything was taken.
Damn… It’s getting hot in here.
In additional Nelly news, the St. Louis MC gave away two full college scholarships this past weekend to Lindenwood University.
