Lil Wayne’s ‘Tha Carter IV’ Pushed Back

About a week ago, news leaked that Lil Wayne’s highly anticipated 4th studio album Tha Carter IVmight be pushed back till June.

At the time that was a just a rumor, but Young Money President Mack Maine confirmed the rumor is true. According to Maine, the album will be released on June 21st.

Neither Lil Wayne nor anyone from the Young Money camp has given a reason to the delay. In some cases, this is due to the album not being complete, but MTV had reported a month ago that Tha Carter IV was finished and heading into the mastering stages.

Maine also confirmed that the album cover for Tha Cater IVthat leaked earlier in the week would in fact be the cover that will be used for the album.

Also about a week ago, the rumored tracklist leaked for Tha Carter IV. According to the rumored listing, many YMCMB family members such as BirdmanDrake and Nicki Minaj will be on the album. Many other big names such as Jay-ZRick RossEminemKanye West, and Gucci Mane were also on the list.

No one has yet to comment on whether this is a confirmed or a tentative tracklist for Weezy’s 4th LP. The world will have to wait until June 21st when Tha Cater IV hits stores.

Kanye West’s ‘Monster’ Video Banned By MTV

Kanye-West-Banned-78124

The music video for Kanye West’s single Monster has been banned by MTV. The television network made the decision to pull the video in response to an outcry over the way women are being portrayed in the footage.

At the forefront of the outrage are two activists Sharon Haywood and Melinda Tankard Reist, who created a petition asking MTV and Universal Music Group to stop promoting the video, and in the process managed to get over 1,600 signatures.

“The mainstreaming of videos like this increases desensitized and callous attitudes toward violence against women,” said Reist, one of the campaign’s originators. “Young people are seeing images and absorbing harmful messages which glamorize misogyny and brutalize women.”

Adding, “Women are reduced to sex-doll like playthings. So great is the level of desensitization that the barbaric treatment of women and girls is seen as normal and to be expected. We decided to run this campaign because we wanted to challenge the status quo.”

Their work isn’t completely done though, pointed out Reist, who said that they are determined to continue their campaign until Universal Music Group responds to the petition.

Monster collaborators Jay-Z, Rick Ross, and Nicki Minaj appear in the video alongside West.

Suge Knight’s $1 Million Lawsuit Against Kanye Tossed

Posted: Friday – November 5, 2010

Former Death Row Records honcho Marion “Suge” Knight was defeated in court yesterday (November 4th), when a federal judge in Miami tossed his $1 million lawsuit against Kanye West.

Knight claimed West was responsible for a 2005 shooting after during a pre-VMA party at The Shore Club in Miami in 2005.

According to Knight’s lawsuit, he would have never been shot if security had been tighter during the party, which was attended by celebrities like The Game, Eddie Murphy, The Black Eyed Peas and others.

According to the Associated Press, a Miami federal judge ruled there was no evidence to prove that a shooting during the party was foreseeable.

Knight also lost a 15 carat diamond studded earrings valued at $150,000 during the fracas. No one has ever been charged with the shooting.

Having given fans a taste of his rapping skills during live performances of “Baby” when he tackles the verse Ludacris recorded for the tune, Justin Bieber is now displaying his keen spitting prowess in a new video posted on his Twitter. In the grainy clip, Bieber rhymes along to a track titled “Speaking in Tongues,” and in a message posted on the webpage, he announces that his rap alias is Shawty Mane.

“Speaking in tongues freestyle… who knew I could rap lol,” he wrote. “My alter ego rap name is Shawty Mane… hah.”

The video features shots of Bieber in the studio and hanging out in the streets rocking some glasses. Early on, he gives a shout-out to Lady Gaga: “Call up Lady Gaga on my on my telephone/ Hello doll/ You’re my girl/ Beats no metronome.”

He then talks up his own capabilities, rhyming, “So I’m raptor/ Tearing it up like a tractor/ Matter fact you’re not feeling this track you’re a slacker.” Later, he raps, “Stop, drop and roll/ Justin Bieber’s on fire/ It’s time to realize it’s time to call me young sire.”

At the end of the clip, Bieber — who hangs out with such hip-hop heavyweights as Drake, Kanye West and the aforementioned Luda — has a little message for those listening to the track. “You guys might know me as the guy who sings ‘Baby’/ You know, uh, I’m a singer, pop singer/ I’m white/ But, um, you know I just wanted to do this just to prove that/ You know I got skills, on, on, on the rap game.”

Last December, Bieber’s pal, rapper Asher Roth, defended his buddy’s rapping skills to MTV News. “He lived like a block away from me. Watching him is like watching your little brother. It’s crazy,” Roth said, referring to their time in Atlanta together. “He can rap. I put him on a remix, but I don’t think his mom would like that very much.”

What do you think of Bieber’s lyrical skills? Talk about it in the comments!

Suge Knight Involved In A Car Accident and Loses Teeth?/ Still Suing Kanye West

Posted: Wednesday – March 31, 2010

Suge Knight has missed another court date, but this time he has a reason.

According to published reports, Knight missed his scheduled court appearance for a lawsuit he filed against Kanye West in Miami, due to a car accident.

Suge’s lawyer Marc Brumer told the Miami New Times that Suge Knight’s accident was so severe that he actually lost his front teeth.

“He was in a pretty serious car accident,” Brumer said. “He lost a couple of teeth, he’s in pain, and he can’t speak.”

The former Death Row Records’ head honcho is suing Kanye West and The Shore Club over a 2005 shooting during an event West hosted at the South Beach hotspot.

“He’s a very adept businessman,” Brumer continued as he spoke about Suge. “He’s a mess, but he’s sharp. Nobody likes Kanye West anymore. Even though he’s still selling millions of records, everybody’s sick of him.”

The above stated lawsuit stems from an incident in which Suge was shot in the femur and had to undergo surgery. Knight is claiming that West is responsible for his medical bills and a $135,000 diamond earring that was allegedly stolen from him during the brawl.

Yeah right…Don’t be mad son, UPS is hiring.

Kanye West & Soulja Boy Becoming The New Dream Team?

Posted: Thursday – March 11, 2010

With the new production skills that Soulja Boy possesses, and the creativeness that Kanye West attains, the pair will make good music together.

“I’m working on Kanye’s next album right now,” Soulja Boy states in an interview.

“We’re working together on production because he makes beats and I make beats. Right now I’m remixing a couple of records for him, I’m actually working on Kanye’s album while he’s working on my album.”

The Crank That rapper continues by saying, “I know a million producers that are no-names, but they got hot beats. I will be going back in the lab to produce beats on this album, I really haven’t produced since my second album, but I’m looking forward to doing a 50/50 split beat with Kanye West. I think that’ll be hot because he’s a great lyricist, but an awesome producer as well. I feel like I’m an awesome producer too, and both of us in the studio together at the same time can come out with a smash.”

Kanye has been working on Soulja Boy’s forthcoming LP, The DeAndre Way, while Soulja Boy has created three tracks for West’s album.

“Right now I’m in the studio making The DeAndre Way,” Soulja Boy explained in an interview earlier this year.

“And mark my words, this album will be a classic. A lot of people been sleeping on Soulja Boy for a long time, when I first came out with Crank That it was so big, gimmicky and catchy it went five times platinum and a lot of people were stuck on it for a long time. They said I was garbage, they said I was a one-hit wonder. Now I came out with Kiss Me Through The Phone, my second #1 single and I released Turn My Swag On, my third #1 single and now I’m going into my third album. I got everybody’s ears open right now…Mark my words, this album will go platinum…I’m reaching out to hip-hop’s greatest…I wanna reach out to that top status. Your Jay-Zs, your Kanyes and your Lil Waynes.”

Soulja Boy said he also hopes to get appearances from Eminem and Hov to murder him on his own album. The DeAndre Way is expected to hit stores in July.
