Suge Knight Beat Down — Again!!!

Posted: Monday – February 22, 2010

For the second time in 9 months, Suge Knight got his face punched in — and the alleged ass-beater claims to be Akon’s business manager.

It all went down in a private party at the W Hotel in Scottsdale, AZ where Suge was attending a private party for NBA All-Star weekend. Cops say they were called to the scene by hotel security who warned about a brewing fight between two groups in the VIP area.

According to the Scottsdale PD website, when cops arrived, they saw a man punch the victim — aka Suge — two times in the head.” Officers had to break out the tasers to “quell the fight.”

The suspect, Robert Carnes, Jr., was charged with one count of felony aggravated assault — they ruled it a felony “due to the severity of the victim’s injuries.” Another man was also arrested and charged with one count of misdemeanor disorderly conduct.

According to the Scottsdale PD, “Carnes reported to officers that he is employed as the business manager for singer ‘Akon.’”

Suge was transported to a local hospital and treated for facial injuries.

UPDATE: Akon’s people tell us, “Akon had already left the party and was in his hotel room at The W when the incident occurred.”

UPDATE: Akon’s publicist released the following statement about Robert Carnes Jr., the guy accused of beating Suge’s ass: “He is not Akon’s business manager, David Bolno is. He is with Akon’s camp.”

BELOW is the Scottsdale PD arrest report:

“At about 3:30 AM, police were called to a private party on the second floor (pool area) of the W Hotel. Hotel security personnel called police when they became concerned that there would be a fight between two groups of guests having heated words in the VIP area. Officers arrived and watched a group of about 6-8 guests exiting the VIP area. They saw one person, later identified as Robert Carnes Jr., punch the victim in the head two times. Officers deployed Tasers to quell the fight that erupted. Officers arrested CARNES Jr. and ANDERSON for assault and disorderly conduct. The victim was transported to SHC-Osborn hospital where he was treated for facial injuries. CARNES Jr. reported to officers that he is employed as the business manager for singer “Akon”.

Both suspects were booked into Scottsdale City jail and are being held in custody.

ANDERSON is charged with 1 count of misdemeanor Disorderly Conduct. CARNES Jr. is charged with 1 count of Felony Aggravated Assault. (Felony charge is due to the severity of the victim’s injuries.)”

Dead Beat Dad Akon

Posted: Monday – October 19, 2009

AKON has criticised his ex-girlfriend after she threatened to take their dispute over child support payments public by running an advertisement in the Los Angeles Times. Farrah Coleman, who has one child with the singer, claims her legal team has been trying to serve him with court papers but has been unable to contact him. She threatened to run an advert in the L.A. newspaper on Monday (19Oct09) to serve him publicly, with her lawyers reportedly set to seek a default judgement in the case if the Senegalese star failed to respond.

But Akon has now fired back at the allegations, insisting his schedule is public knowledge and Coleman’s lawyers could have contacted him at any time. He tells TMZ.com, “You got a hold of me and you ain’t even trying. I’m a celebrity. My schedule is on the internet. You can go on my MySpace (web page), it’ll tell you where I’m at!”

Bone Thugs, Akon, Swizz Beatz Sued Over "I Tried"

Posted: Thursday – July 16, 2009

Popular Hip-Hop group Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, producer Swizz Beatz and R&B singer Akon have been hit with a lawsuit by a Texas-based music publisher.

Songster, which is located in Fort Worth, Texas, filed the lawsuit in the Central District of California yesterday (July 14).

The company claims the Bone Thug’s lead single from their 2007 album Strength and Loyalty illegally lifted portions of the 1978 track “When The Day Will Come (aka KRSNA)” by group Rasa.

The lawsuit lists a variety of Hip-Hop artists who have sampled chanting from the song, which has been incorporated into tracks by KRS-One (“Beef”), Black Rob (“Can I Live”), Common (“Take It Easy”) and others with permission.

Songster also names Akon, the track’s producer, Swizz Beatz, owner of the Full Surface record label, Interscope Records, Sony A.T.V. Publishing and Universal Music Group in the lawsuit.

Songster claims they notified each defendant in writing about the infringement, but the album and song was still sold as physical CD’s and digital downloads.

Songster seeks to take the case to trial, to determine the amount of damages the original producer and songwriter of “Everything You See is Me” are entitled to.

They are also demanding all profits earned from the sales of Bone Thug’s track, in addition to removing any CD’s containing the track from being sold through physical and digital stores.

Mack 10 Secures Lil Wayne, Rick Ross and Jim Jones for New Album

Posted: Monday – July 6, 2009

Armed with a renewed focus and an all-star list of collaborator, West Coast rap star/actor Mack 10 plans to wrap up the summer in grand fashion with his forthcoming album Soft White.

The release is the follow-up to the Inglewood, Ca. native’s previous offering, 2005’s Hustla’s Handbook, which included the Nate Dogg-assisted single “Like That.”

For Soft White, Mack 10 admitted to having “fun” while working on the project as he explained the meaning behind the album’s name.

“I went with that title because this album right here is just raw and uncut, it’s just me,” Mack 10 stated. “We had fun on this one and I had to bring them all out, I’ve been smiling all year.”

Among those on hand to craft Soft White are music producer Jazze Pha and R&B crooners Anthony Hamilton, J. Holiday and Akon.

Rappers Jim Jones, Birdman and Glasses Malone have also been recruited for the album as well as Lil Wayne and Rick Ross, who both appear on Soft White’s first single, “So Sharp.”

The release of the album is the latest chapter in the music career of Mack10, who has sold nearly 3 million albums.

The rap veteran first emerged on the scene in 1995 with his self-titled debut album, which charted at number 2 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.

The following year, Mack 10 aligned with fellow West Coast rap artists Ice Cube and WC to form Westside Connection.

The trio released their critically acclaimed platinum debut, Bow Down, in 1996.

Following Bow Down’s release, Mack 10 remained a fixture on the rap scene with a string of albums like Based on a True Story, The Recipe, The Paper Route and his 2003 Cash Money Records release Ghetto, Gutter & Gangster.

Mack 10’s Soft White is slated to hit stores on August 25. A video for “So Sharp” will be released in the coming weeks.
