The most persuasive moments of Kaliko’s 17-track effort stick to a rugged and uncompromising formula. Strange Music is an army. With Tech N9ne posted up as its general, the Kansas City cabal has successfully entrenched its roots across the underground strata of the Rap map. Independent, self-sufficient, and known for releasing music hooked around high-octane raps, the Strange Music message has spread globally. Now it’s the turn of the movement’s second-in-command, Krizz Kaliko, to build on Tech’s Klusterfuck EP from earlier this year. Although for all of Kickin’ & Screamin’s virtues it too often flirts with diluting the Strange Music battle cry.

Public Enemy’s Chuck D spoke recently about his group’s two planned album releases for 2012. In an interview with Billboard, Chuck offered an explanation behind Public Enemy’s decision to drop two albums this year. Earlier in the 2012, if was announced that the LPs will be entitled Most Of My Heroes Still Don’t Appear on No Stamp and The Evil Empire of Everything. Chuck explained that the albums work together thematically. Most Of My Heroes will explore the idea of people rising up together, whilst The Evil Empire deals with the problematic relationship between people and institutions of the state.

Rapper Lil Wayne believes that Pusha T’s new track, Exodus 23:1 is a diss against Young Money. Pusha T dropped the track Wednesday (May 23) night from his forthcoming solo album. Shortly after, Weezy took to Twitter (@liltunechi) and tweeted, “Fuk Pusha T and anybody that love em.” The track samples Notorious B.I.G’s What’s Beef? and has a ton of subliminal lines throughout it. “Throwing that flag up, runnin around like you hot sh–, taking half of everything you get,” the G.O.O.D Music rapper’s chorus goes. The song also features the lyrics, “Contract all fucked up. I guess that means you all fucked. You signed to one nigga, then signed to another niggaa. Then signed to three niggas. Now that’s bad luck.”
